Keyboard Shortcuts

Postby DaveT » Sun Dec 06, 2009 5:45 pm

Can I define a keyboard shortcut for a function which does not appear in Standard.kbd.cfg? I would like to define a key to jump to the start of a track (right click on rew).

Have a look at this page near the bottom for a list of potential options. You may be able to do something with ChannelN playposition but I'm not sure how you feed a value to a control via the keyboard - someone else might need to chip in there.

May I ask why you would want to jump back to the very start of a track as opposed to its cue point?

I am a folk dance caller. Typically I play the track, adjust the speed, then jump back to the start of the track, pause while I walk through the dance then hit play. I can do all these actions with a key press except the jump back to start. I am new to Mixx and I am not a dj, so maybe I am missing something obvious.

I think you are. Set a cue point at the start of the track (just press CUE or whatever the keyboard button is for "cue_default".) Then use that same keyboard button while the track is playing to jump back to that cue point.

Another thing you can do is to change your Standard.kbd.cfg for the [Channel1] group to map 'start' to something.

Example:

[Channel1]
...
start Shift+s

That will make Shift+s jump you to the start of the track. You can also use Pegasus's suggestion and use the cue point, as that won't require you to change your keyboard mapping. Shift+d sets the channel1 cue and Shift+e jumps to it.

Hi angela,

The keyboard shortcuts are documented in the Mixxx Manual. A PDF of the Mixxx manual came with your install of Mixxx, however, you'll find a full table of the keyboard shortcuts, as well as a printable keyboard overlay here: Mixxx Manual
