Empty MP3s as markers

Postby 3x5 » Tue Sep 24, 2019 1:16 am

Hi there, I have a hack that's been helping me organize my mixes, and I want to share it with you all. I created 50 empty mp3 files, named 01.mp3 to 50.mp3, in a folder separate from my music library. Then I added this to mixx:

Then, I added these to their own playlist:

I give the files different names, based on what kind of note I want to put in my set list:

The one I use the most, by far, is just a horiontal rule: ————. But because I have so many files, I can make all kinds of notes between selections, like 'fill this in' or 'alternate take' or 'find a better track here'.

I can also name different mixes with these markers, and it helps me keep my playlists much cleaner. I can just have one playlist called 'Jungle', for example, and have all my Jungle mixes in there, divided with these markers.

Intersting idea.
I just wonder how we can make this less Jacky and usable for all users.
I think it should be possible to create these tracks on the fly and they should not clutter the tracks view and crates.

Do you have programming skills?

A start would be to file a bug for it:

Describing the use cases an possible solutions.
