Properly set up 5.1 surround sound system

Postby Dubfiance » Thu Aug 15, 2019 11:41 pm

Hi everyone. I just got a 5.1 Logitech x530 speaker set and an Asus Xonar U5 external sound card for my laptop (Windows 10)

I was wondering how do I properly set up the channels to work with Mixxx, or what's the best way to do so.

Thanks

According to the image here, the xonar has 5 connectors. https://www.asus.com/es/Sound-Cards/Xonar_U5/gallery/

It has one input connector (the one with a microphone), one stere output (the one with the headphones), and a 5.1 output (the front, center and rear connectors).

I recommend you to use the "front" and "rear" connectors, use front as your master and "rear" as your headphones. Usually you can connect the headphones directly there, but you might need a heaphone amplifier if you need more volume.

On Mixxx, you would go to settings, audio hardware, and configure the output for master to channels 1-2 and headphones to channels 3-4 (usually center and subwoofer are channels 5-6, you might need to try).
