Equalizer-Keyboard Control?

Postby peugeotboxer » Mon Apr 01, 2019 1:21 pm

Hi All,
I have searched but unable to find any reference to using the keyboard keys to operate the equalizer controls.
I can operate them using the mouse but wonder if there is such a facility?
Thanks

Hey,

Here is some info for you to dig into.

https://mixxx.org/manual/2.2/en/chapter ... ping-table

I didn't see a default mapping for EQ but have no fear...

https://mixxx.org/manual/2.2/en/chapter ... l-keyboard

Will lead you to here...

https://mixxx.org/manual/2.2/en/chapter ... d-keyboard
You will need some info from this page as well...
https://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/mixxxcontrols

Here is some imporatnt info from that page...
EQs and filters

Starting in Mixxx 2.0, the equalizers and filter controls have been moved to special effects units. The EQs are controlled by [EqualizerRack1_[ChannelN]_Effect1] and the filter knob is controlled by [QuickEffectRack1_[ChannelN]],super and [QuickEffectRack1_[ChannelN]_Effect1],enabled. Users can choose between several options for the effects loaded in these racks in the Equalizers section of the Preferences window.

I hope this helps. If you need a hand don't be afraid to reply. If you tell me what keys you want to be using for the EQ I can try to build the cfg file.

Thank you Network for the reply and offer.
I was looking for a 'simple' way to adjust the equalizer knobs rather than use the mouse to do it.

Doesn't appear to be a straight option as such.
I'll stick with the mouse for now.
Thanks

It's pretty simple, the documentation can just seem daunting.

Few questions:

a) are you using all the default keyboard shortcuts
b) do you want independant EQ control (IE 6/9 per deck (2 keys for - and+ one for the kill if you want it so either 6 keys or 9 per deck)) the buttons control the active desk or individual where the ammount of keys needed doubles but each key is linked to one deck?
c) what keys do you want to use for these?

I'll whip up a quick cfg file for you. It's good practice on my end (I use a controller so don't get to play with keyboard configs much)

Hi Network

I use a controller ordinarily, (Numark DJ2GO) but need to adjust the eq gain knobs (high, mid, low) on occasions, which I can't do through the controller.
I wondered if there was a keyboard shortcut; ie. press a key and + (or-) to activate the allocated eq knob.

Hope this makes sense?

If you wish to compile something then thank you very much.
Regards

Sure thing,

I need to know what buttons on the keyboard you want to be using :)

Which key on the keyboard to be used for

Deck 1
High +:
High -:
Mid +:
Mid -:
Low +:
Low -:

Deck 2
High +:
High -:
Mid +:
Mid -:
Low +:
Low -:

I also need to know if you want a Kill for High Mid Low on each deck.

Since you use a controller you don't need any of the normal mixxx keyboard shortcuts, but if you do use any of them let me know so that I can make sure they are part of the keyboard cfg file.

Thanks

It doesn't matter which keys are for which, although a logical order would be preferred. ie;Increase; Deck 1 : Q = high, A = med, Z = low Deck 2 : P = high, L = med, M = low

Maybe the adjacent keys to decrease? ie: W, S, X & O, K, N

Not concerned about kill keys.
I only use two decks.

What do you think?
Thanks in advance for your time and trouble.

you can map
[EqualizerRack1_[Channel1]_Effect1],parameter1_up or parameter1_up_small and friends

See https://www.mixxx.org/manual/latest/en/ ... d-keyboard

It is also helpful to start Mixxx via
mixxx --developer

this way you get extended tool tips to identify the controls used for the GUI elements.

Hello fellow djs. I have noticed that pressing the 5 and 0 keys no longer trigger the flanger sound in mixxx. I'm using the latest stable version and i'm currently mapping accessible controls in to mixxx for myself and my fellow blind users. I've been able to map samplers and volume controls in, but don't quite know how to write the instructions for playing these effects. I have tried flushing all traces of previous mixxx instalations to see if a clean instal would solve the flanger problem, but no luck. Any help particularly with the way i should write in instructions would be appreciated.

The flanger was replaced with the general purpose effects system in Mixxx 2.0.
